Optical properties of corundum-structured In₂O₃

The optical properties of a single-phase corundum-structured In 2 O 3 epilayer grown by mist chemical vapor deposition method have been studied. Raman scattering measurements on c face and lateral reveal all the seven Raman-active modes corundum structure, with good adherence to selection rules. Three out four infrared-active are observed in spectroscopic ellipsometry measurements. phonon frequencies obtained from excellent agreement density functional perturbation theory calculations. No trace bixbyite phase was detected spectra. UV region, imaginary part dielectric function shows two distinct onsets strong absorption associated direct band-to-band transitions at 3.38 3.86 eV.
